Detour to Brno (Moravia, Czech Republic) over the weekend. Found a bug in the corner of the Mendel museum. What do Gregor Mendel, Ivana Trump and Sigmud freud have in common? They are all considered Moravians, which is an area in the southern region of Czech Republic. Brno is located there and after Prague the second largest city in the nation. Gregor Mendel is famous for counting peas. Or genetics, or just for why you are more likely to have blue eyes if both your parents had blue eyes. I enjoyed his museum, esp. because I found a bug there. I had been looking for bugs in museums all the time and never could find one. Kind of fitting the theme if you find a bug in the former center for the agricultural society which Mendel was part of, and sometimes even chaired. I hope the cleaning lady of the museum does not get fired for this blog, would be a shame. I was quite lucky, as at 9 pm on July 20th I was at the Svoboda (means freedom) place, where the astronomical clock spat out a glass ball with Mendel printed on it, as a birthday present, kind of. Perfect souvenir. The famous scientist was born on July 20th 1822. I love Brno, exciting place to hang out.
