14:54 Paris est
It was 14:49, I was sitting amidst bees and bumble bees, mesmerized by the abundance of flowers in an area where I expected to be trash and nothing but human made noises, well, maybe a few pidgeons. A forgotten corner near the train station in Stuttgart. I arrived an hour earlier, had stumbled onto these few square meters by accident and had been sitting, squatting and chasing bees all this time. Not just bees but all kinds of bee related creatures, not being a biologist, I can´t tell the names, but there were at least 5 species. Bees, bumble bees, wasps, wood wasps, tiny wasps, all buzzing around in a frenzy search for honey or nectar or a job do do. The entire "neighborhood" seemed to come here for "lunch". Thinking of that I got hungry myself and thought of going for a snack before the train would leave. Looking at my watch I froze. WHAT? I had totally forgotten about time. My train was to depart to Paris est at 14:54, only 3 minutes left. I got up, threw my stuff into my handbag and started running, dragging the big suitcase behind me. I needed platform 9, I was soon at 6, one minute left. My heart raced. I turned left into the platform, raced towards the last wagon and jumped on. Heart pounding. One last double check if it was the right train, it was, as I released a looong breath, the train started moving.
